American greed at its finest

It's a very well known fact that Americans are, indeed, greedy. Our sue happy country has created a world where twisting your ankle while competing in a high school sporting event would likely result in a six figure settlement.

This, on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air. Mr. and Mrs. Boring attempted to sue the tech giant Google, over trespassing accusations during Google's sweep of the nation for its Google maps function.

They requested $25,000 in damages because a Google Earth van drove into their property to get a street view of their house. This lawsuit, filed in 2008 has finally been settled..
For the whopping amount of $1 USD. That's right, Google settled this case, after two and a half years, for one dollar. Needless to say, Google won this case, and in my opinion, sent a nice message to anyone trying to sue for a quick buck(see what I did there? Huh?).

A spokesman for Google commented on the case, saying,
We are pleased that this lawsuit has finally ended with plaintiffs’ acknowledgment that they are entitled to only $1

If you wanted the pictures from said lawsuit, here they are.

  1. Wouldn't Google paying them the dollar mean that Google _lost_ the case?
